The Plant Stall by Mel Mitchell
The Plant Stall at the Paul Garden Fêtes in my childhood was run by a Mr Waters and in the words of Chris Osborne ,"it was always packed". The stall was usually tucked up under the trees on the road side of the vicarage garden it was so lush and abundant but also very meticulous, everything was well potted, neatly labelled and looked very healthy. I remember mainly traditional garden plants but he also sold fresh flowers and veg. Mr Waters was a shy knowledgeable man usually assisted by a lady who I assume was his wife I've always presumed he grew everything himself and I remember being told he had meadows down Mousehole Lane . With hindsight perhaps he also received donations from other green-fingered villagers? Perhaps other people might remember more?
